A Website That Does Something

When someone visits your website, it should be clear what you do, why it matters, and what they should do next. That sounds simple. Most websites do not manage it.

A properly built website is not a brochure that happens to be online. It is the part of your business that works around the clock: answering questions before they are asked, giving people a reason to get in touch, and telling search engines exactly what you do and where you do it. When it is built well, it works for you. When it is not, it sits there and costs you opportunities you never knew you were missing.

Every site I build starts with your business, not a template. The platform, the structure, the content and the setup all follow from what you actually need. Most projects use WordPress, but the right tool depends on the job.

Most of the businesses I work with across Worcestershire and the West Midlands are not looking for something complicated. They want a site that represents them properly, comes up in local searches, and does not need constant attention to keep running. That is exactly what a properly built site should do. The problem is that a lot of sites are put together quickly, with SEO bolted on afterwards and no real thought given to performance or structure. They look acceptable at launch and quietly underperform from that point on.

Getting the foundations right at the start costs less than fixing them later. Clean code, a proper structure, and the right technical setup make every other aspect of your online presence easier: search visibility, page speed, future changes, and anything you want to add down the line.

What is included in every project

Website Design and Build

Each site is planned and built around your content, your clients and your goals. The platform depends on what you actually need. Most projects use WordPress, but Joomla, Shopify and others are all options.

UK Hosting and Security

Fast UK-based hosting with daily backups, SSL and setup with GDPR considerations throughout. Managed properly, and you know exactly who to contact if something goes wrong.

SEO Built In From Day One

Clean code, proper heading structure, readable URLs, metadata, schema markup and fast load times. Built into the site from the start, not added as an afterthought.

Analytics & Search Console Setup

Google Analytics 4 and Search Console configured and verified at launch. You can see what is working from day one rather than having to set things up separately afterwards.

Mobile-First Development

Every site is built mobile-first and tested across devices. It needs to work as well on a phone in a car park as it does on a desktop in an office.

Support After Launch

Help available after the site goes live. No retainers, no monthly contracts required. Phone, email or WhatsApp when you need something. Updates, fixes, questions.

How a project works

Most projects start in one of two places: a website that exists but is not doing its job, or a business that has never had one built properly.

Either way, before anything is agreed, we talk through what you actually need. Every stage that follows is clear and signed off before work begins. No surprises. Nothing added that you did not ask for.

No surprises. Nothing added that you did not ask for.

Discovery

It starts with a conversation. I want to understand your business, your clients and what you need the website to actually do. No lengthy forms or briefs to fill in beforehand.

Plan and Structure

Before any design work, I map out the page structure, navigation and content flow. You can see how the site will work before anything is built.

Design

Visual design built around your existing brand or developed from scratch. Colours, typography and layout all agreed with you before the build starts.

Build and Test

Development with full mobile testing, performance checks, accessibility checks and SEO configuration throughout. You review the site in a staging environment before it goes live.

Launch and Handover

Go live with redirects in place, sitemap submitted to Google, Analytics confirmed and hosting sorted. You get full access to the site and a clear picture of how to manage it going forward.

What a Properly Built Website Can Do

The difference between a site built carefully and one put together quickly is not always visible to the eye. It shows up in search.

Over Two Decades of Experience, Working Directly for You

I have been working in web design and digital since the late nineties, through every significant shift the industry has been through since.

Before going independent, I managed digital projects for large organisations across housing, education and financial services. Platforms supporting tens of thousands of users, accessibility programmes built to public sector standards, systems that had to work properly because the consequences of getting it wrong were real.

That experience now works directly for your business. You get clear advice, honest feedback and work done to a proper standard, without the agency overhead.

What clients say

Rather than follow the financial services’ traditional approach to website design, I wanted something a little different to reflect my professional style of delivery as a lifestyle financial adviser. Paul helped us create a unique, user-friendly website to our exact specification. Nothing was too much trouble during the build and Paul has hosted and managed the website for us ever since without any issues. We highly recommend his services and expertise!

What clients say

Eight years ago I decided to create a blog to share my experiences as a novice dog owner. I’ve been using Paul’s services over the years for clients and he’s never let me down, so enlisted his help to create and host a simple blog. Since then it has transformed into a comprehensive website. It’s been regularly updated to incorporate the latest technology to make it very easy to manage myself, with Paul always on hand to assist with tweaks and suggestions. Paul is a real expert in his field and explains everything in clear and simple terms. He’s my go-to person for all things tech!

What clients say

As the clerk to the trustees/manager I could not be happier with the service from Paul. From the very start, he walked us through the entire process with patience and clarity, making sure everything made sense to us. He understood exactly what our charity needed and helped us save valuable funds by guiding us through Non-Profit Microsoft services. Nothing was too much trouble and he is always there when we need support. We are so grateful to have someone so reliable and knowledgeable helping us make the most of our online presence. We will be using Paul to create our website in the near future. We highly recommend him.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website cost?

Every project is scoped individually. You will get a clear, itemised quote before anything starts. No hidden extras.

How long does a website take to build?

It depends on the size and complexity. Most small business websites are ready within three to five weeks. You will have a clear timeline before anything starts, and nothing moves forward without your sign-off at each stage.

I already have a website. Can you help?

Yes. Whether it needs a full rebuild, a refresh or just fixing something that is not working, get in touch and I will take a look. I can also take over hosting and management of existing sites.

Do you only build WordPress websites?

No. I build on WordPress, Joomla!, Shopify, WooCommerce, Drupal, Umbraco, Concrete5 and Magento, and can work with existing sites on other platforms. WordPress is the right choice for most small business projects, but the platform should follow from what you need, not the other way around. If you are not sure what is right for you, that is exactly the kind of thing we work out at the discovery stage.

Do I need to write the content myself?

No. You can provide content if you have it, or I can help write and structure it. Content writing is available as a separate service.

Can I update the site myself after launch?

Yes. You get full access to the site and the ability to manage, update or change content as you need to. If you would prefer not to handle updates yourself, I offer ongoing support for exactly that.

Will the site rank on Google?

SEO is built in from day one: proper structure, metadata, schema markup and performance, all included as standard. What cannot be guaranteed is a specific position in search results. Google does not work that way, and nobody can promise you a particular ranking regardless of what they charge. What you get is a solid technical foundation, which is the right place to start. The rest depends on competition, content and time.

Do you work outside Kidderminster and Worcestershire?

I am based in Kidderminster and work with businesses across Worcestershire and the West Midlands. I also work remotely with clients across the UK, most of a project can be handled online without any issue.

What happens after the site goes live?

You have direct access to me by email or WhatsApp. No ticket queue, no waiting. Digital support details here.

Ready to Talk About Your Website?

Most projects start from one of two places: a website that exists but is not really working, or a business that has never had one built properly. Either way, the first step is the same.

A conversation. Not a lengthy brief or a form to fill in. Just a straightforward discussion about what you need the site to do, who it is for, and what you want it to achieve. From there, everything follows in a clear sequence: structure first, then design, then build and testing, then launch. Nothing moves forward without your sign-off, and nothing gets added that you did not ask for.

Every stage is handled directly by me. There is no project manager passing messages along, no account team between you and the work. If something needs changing, you tell me and it gets changed.

Most small to medium websites take three to five weeks from first conversation to launch. Larger or more complex builds take longer, but you will always know where things stand. There is no obligation to proceed after an initial conversation, and no sales pitch when you get in touch.

Every enquiry comes directly to me. I will usually come back to you the same day.
